Upstate NY Location Senior Portraits
Locations are important for Portrait Photographers, more so because I do lots of High School Senior Portraits.
My Senior Portrait Clients love to go on location. It is especially a great challenge to go to a familiar location and make it look completely different. Problem solving is fun! Not everything can be planned out in advance, and I like that! Every year is fun because I have gotten to go to some totally new places. Here are some of my favorite Upstate NY Location Senior Portraits:
Thinking Outside The Box For Location Senior Portraits
Sometimes the most fun locations are places you might not think of. For Parker’s portraits, we went to the Auto Museum.
Using Local Architecture in Senior Portraits
We are lucky to live in an area that has lots of diverse architecture all within an hour radius. It is fun to go on a field trip for Senior Portraits!

I have been here with wedding clients a lot. I don’t usually get to bring a High School kid here–and we did some high fashion shots as a bonus.
Using a Favorite Place in a New Way
Evan chose Saratoga National because he golfs and his family dines there often.

I have been here many times, but never photographed this particular location at this time of day. This was a challenge because the client wanted this particular background, and this time of day is not easy! We actually needed to use a subractive lighting technique to do this because the sun was so bright, we did not want him squinting and the background could not be blown out.
Weather Delays
Sometimes the weather is a little funky. I do have a covered front porch that I have used from time to time.

It was raining and we were supposed to go on location. We used my porch instead. Hey, it happens. We ended going on location the next day, but I really like this one!
Country Roads for Location Senior Portraits
I have made many mental notes while doing errands for places just on the side of the road that would be interesting in photos. It changes seasonally and under different circumstances.

I had driven by this location several times and finally got to use it. Love the textures.

Same wall, different time of day. Looks completely different.
Parks in Saratoga
Our local parks are the quintessential locations for Senior Portraits. The real trick is to see them with fresh eyes so every single session is not cookie cutter.

This spot is off the beaten path and often overlooked. It is also only available at certain times of the day.
So that’s where I have been. Where have you been?
