Intimate Weddings and Elopements are becoming ever more popular with couples—and for good reasons! They often entail less stress, a smaller guest list, fewer planning decisions, and less expenditure. But that does not mean you should skip the Wedding Photography! The great news is that there are quite a few photography options for microweddings or elopements.
Have Your Microwedding or Elopement Captured by a Professional Photographer
First of all—your wedding should be photographed beautifully and professionally, no matter what the size of the event. In fact, I do believe it is one of the services where it is worth splashing out.
Small or large, a wedding is a pretty big deal in that you are making a commitment to your person. You most definitely deserve to be able to look back and relive the moments of the day. Even if you say your vows privately with a Justice of the Peace. A shorter ceremony does not mean your wedding is somehow “less” important. Think of it more in terms of it being intentionally curated.
Micro Wedding and Elopement Photography Options
So what exactly are the photography options for microweddings and elopements? I would say that really depends on what you feel comfortable with. Every single Wedding is a story. Smaller weddings are completely customizable in terms of the amount of time, final products, and overall style in which they are photographed.
I would say the bare minimum you might want is two hours of wedding photo coverage to ensure you get a great mix of candids and formal portraits. We even offer shoots for couples who have already tied the knot and just want lovely portraits. When I photograph a smaller event, I still make sure I am photographing details, candids and formals so we can pull together a cohesive story.

Even with two guests, I feel it is important to photography the most intimate conversation you will have with another person.
Take some time together and ask the following questions:
- Do we want someone to document our vows? Or do we just want fabulous couple photos?
- Do we want to have the getting ready portion photographed?
- Do we have special locations that are important to us to be included?
- Are we having some guests and do we want photos with them?
- Are we planning a dinner with guests and do we want any photos of that?
All of these questions will help you home in on what is important in terms of the photography options for your microwedding or elopement.
Additional Options

A beautifully printed and designed album is a wonderful way to relive the story of your microwedding or elopement.
One of the other things you will certainly want to consider is what you intend to do with all the amazing images that you create with your photographer. One of my favorite things is designing and printing albums. But if you are personally not into that, we do also offer some boutique wall art printed by some of the finest labs in the country. So be sure to budget for printed products that will be tangible heirlooms.
To sum up–your wedding is special, no matter the size of the guest list or the venue. Be sure to have it professionally photographed to tell the story of one of the most beautiful days in your life.
